For the first time ever documentation on German emigration to America, up-to-date information on Germany and tourist information are linked and blended. The plan for this project emerged when the leading German initiative for heritage programs and documentation, "Research and Travel, Dr. Grams", introduced the idea to the German National Tourist Office and the German Information Center in New York.

• "German Resources" give access to online-information, databases, emigrant names and lists, relevant projects, experts etc. This information is listed for every German "Bundesland". A map helps to locate the area you are interested in. Links to the respective tourist organizations offer additional information and services.

 
• Further items (from "Passenger Lists" to "Virtuell Exhibits") give access and orientation to a wealth of information, including genealogical sites and databases.

 
• Historic maps help to understand changing territories and gone-by names in Germany. Geographical information systems help to locate towns.

 
• Links to the German National Tourist Bord and to the German Information Center provide indepth information on travel, history, culture, politics and German life.

 
• Special heritage tours have been designed and booking is available online.
